Resources for former foster youth & Advocates

College Promise is a a national, non-partisan, non-profit initiative that builds broad public support for funding the first two or more years of postsecondary education for hard-working students, and ensuring those students have access to quality educational opportunities and supports.

Student Training and Education in Public Service (STEPS) compiled this comprehensive guidebook entitled Foster Care to College to connect foster youth who are aging out of the system (and others who grew up in foster care) to financial, housing and academic support resources that can make attending college easier. It is a wonderful resource for foster youth who are interested in attending college, as well as for social workers, researchers, and other practicioners who support foster youth and want to provide resources and support.
